so 2017 is a really big for finland since we turn 100 this year so they had this massive (by finnish standards at least) fireworks show in the city centre. Which song this they play during this amazing celebratory show, you may ask. The national anthem, perhaps? Wrong. they played sandstorm by darude. and darude was there himself playing it
Nina Chaubal, founder of Trans Lifeline and a nationally recognized
suicide prevention advocate, has been taken by border patrol in Arizona
and put into […] an ICE facility in Eloy, Arizona with a history of human rights abuses towards trans women.
Media coverage is minimal, but read a piece here. Make noise with minimal effort here.
Quick reality check:
This case is laden with issues of selective enforcement and navigation of the US immigration bureaucracy as a trans* person. Unfortunately, as it stands, she may not have a whole lot of legal ground to stand on as far as remaining in the States without a valid work visa, a spouse visa, or permanent resident status. No idea what the chances are of getting her moved to a different detention facility, but it’s probably better than the chances of getting her outright released at this point.
Trans Lifeline (+1 877 565 8860) is a grassroots crisis intervention hotline based in the States, operated for trans* people by trans* volunteers. It is run by the sort of Silicon Valley folks who unapologetically use buzzwords like ‘data-driven’ and ‘peer-to-peer’, and I do wish they’d actually vet their operators rather than train and monitor them, but gosh darn it, it’s a really good idea that deserves to grow into a great functioning resource.
I’ve been seeing a sudden surge of use of the word ‘thot’ and I’m concerned
We’ve recently seen at least one ancient Egyptian deity resurrected through meme magic
Thoth is a significantly more powerful member of the pantheon than Kek and the consequences of summoning him may be even more drastic than the rebirth of Kek (Brexit, Trump winning the election, a series of celebrity deaths)
The phrase ‘return the bones thot’ radiates an obvious mystical power and it may herald that Thoth will come to preside over 2017 as Kek has presided over 2016 – the bones possibly refer to the millions of mummified ibises buried in his honor at his main temple in Khmun, by reblogging that post you may be unknowingly beseeching this ancient and powerful being to repay the thousands of years of sacrifices humanity once offered him – what form that might take, we can only speculate
Although it’s possible that Thoth has been with us for a while – his name in Greek letters is Θώθ, which is clearly referenced in the ‘OwO what’s this?’ meme
As the inventor of both magic and science and keeper of all wisdom, Thoth assuredly does know what ‘this’ is, but I’m not sure we want to find out
I’m also concerned that Thoth’s wife Ma’at may be connected to the frequent seemingly compulsive and superfluous use of the word ‘mate’ or ‘m8′ in memes
Please be careful with your memes, they may hold hidden arcane power
Weirdly anti-millennial articles have scraped the bottom of the barrel so hard that they are now two feet down into the topsoil
its so wild like “this generation with no fucking money is learning to prioritize essentials” and all these chucklefucks can write is advertisements for these companies
at least our jeans won’t tear at the seams after two washes
FUCK FABRIC SOFTENER IT’S UTTERLY POINTLESS
AND FUCK DRYER SHEETS LITERALLY NOBODY EVER HAS ENOUGH OF A PROBLEM WITH STATIC TO WARRANT PAYING OUT THE ASS FOR THAT SHIT
DO YOU WANT CLEAN CLOTHES? YOU DON’T EVEN NEED TO BUY FUCKING DETERGENT JUST MAKE YOUR OWN* IT’S SO GODDAMN EASY AND 80X CHEAPER
FUCK THE ENTIRE LAUNDRY INDUSTRY
*Fuck The Entire Laundry Industry Recipe
1 cup Washing Soda (not Baking Soda. Different things.)
1 cup Borax (not Boric Acid. Also a different thing.)
½ cup – 1 cup grated bar soap (you can use literally anything. I often use Ivory because it’s easy to get and I find it works well, a lot of people like Fels-Naptha, which is an actual laundry bar. Some people use Dr. Bronner’s. Really does not fucking matter.)
After grating your soap, combine all ingredients. That’s it. That’s the whole thing. Use maybe a ¼ cup per load.
^^^ I’ve done this for years now and it works as well as any store bought detergent
WHAT Thank you, tumblr user awfullydull! Your URL does no justice to the good advice you give!
Also you can MAKE your own washing soda very VERY cheaply.
Step one: acquire $5 bag of baking soda from Costco.
Step two: lay that motherfucking baking soda out on a baking tray.
Step three: bake the baking soda on a tray in an oven at 400° for 1 hour (to make the moisture evaporate, leaving washing soda)
Step four: revel in how easy and cheap it is to make your own washing soda, and maybe take a moment to be angry that the industry upcharges the fuck out of something that is so easy to make.
I see some of y’all complaining about static and/or wanting nice smelling laundry. Go to a craft store, find 100% wool yarn balls. If it doesn’t come in a ball, ask an employee to make it into a tight ball for you. Wash in the washing machine to make it felted. Remove from washer, add a few drops of essential oil to the ball, allow to seep in. Dry with clothing. Doesn’t need to be rewashed ever, and if it stops smelling, add few more drops of essential oil. Bam, reusable dryer sheets.
Naomi Ellis and her her husband Seth spent Friday morning — the morning after the sixth night of Hanukkah — trying to explain to their three young sons why someone had vandalized the menorah the family had put out on their yard by twisting the metal pieces into the shape of a swastika.
The Ellis family had only built the 7-foot-tall menorah on the front lawn of their home in Chandler, Arizona, because their sons, ages 5, 7 and 9, had asked their parents if the family could decorate their home like the neighbors did for Christmas, the Washington Postreported. Read more.
