Alexander Hamilton was, at the end of the day, a man with high ambitions which superseded all his other beliefs. He was already being attacked by his enemies for his background and struggling to rise above his beginnings. His willingness to situationally ignore the depravities of slavery in order to further his goals is, like many other things in American history, a terrible thing that we must not ignore.
