There is no such thing as a āmale brainā or a āfemale brain,ā new research finds.
Instead, men and womenās brains are an unpredictable mishmash of malelike and femalelike features, the study concludes. Even in brain regions previously thought to show differences based on sex, variability is more common than consistency.
I hope Iām not cherrypicking science here, but I see a lot of articles that seem to proclaim that brains are either distinct or entirely indistinct between genders. So itās nice to see something that doesnāt directly refute what Iāve read about prenatal hormonal levels, and generally speaking just ignore the existence of trans people.
Iām not a neuroscientist, but I feel like if you want to get anywhere with research on this kind of thing, youāll have to account for trans people. I may not like the truth, but I do exist.
I donāt think you are cherry picking. This most recent finding agrees with what you are saying as I understand it, and the research being described here is the most comprehensive assault on this question to yet be published. While some of what went before needs to be considered, a comprehensive, current study needs to be given the weight it deserves.
no i didnt i went into a coffee shop and threw a handful of change at the nearest bearded man i saw using a laptop while looking pensive and i hissed āwrite for me, writer, writeā in the most contemptuous of tones
