theoppositeofprofound:

Okay, suckers, listen up.

The electoral college hasn’t voted yet.

They don’t vote until December. And while 29 states and DC have laws requiring electors to vote along state lines, the rest don’t.

Donald Trump only got a few votes (nine) into the majority.

If a handful of electors swing or even abstain and become faithless electors, the entire system would get thrown into crisis.

These are the states that require electors to vote according to state popular vote. That leaves:

  1. Arizona
  2. Arkansas
  3. Florida
  4. Georgia
  5. Idaho
  6. Illinois
  7. Indiana
  8. Iowa
  9. Kansas
  10. Kentucky
  11. Lousiana
  12. Minnesota
  13. Missouri
  14. New Hampshire
  15. New Jersey
  16. New York
  17. North Dakota
  18. Pennsylvania
  19. Rhode Island
  20. South Dakota
  21. Texas
  22. West Virginia

All states where electors can do whatever the hell they want. In fact, even in the other states electors are only subject to a small fine.

So, in summary, until December you can harass the hell out of your electors (list found here). Remind them who won the popular vote. Remind them of their duty to protect the nation. Tell them how the presidency will effect you directly. A faithless elector is a pretty big deal, and even one of two would make a big impact in terms of showing how awful our presumptive president elect is.

This fight isn’t over yet.

Yes, threatening to assassinate the President is a felony, but if everyone does it there isn’t much they can do. I’m not suggesting we make it a regular part of speech because that is a bad precedent to set, but there is strength in numbers. Plus none of the white hillbillies threatening to hang Obama have gotten arrested yes.

I’m… weirdly calm right now. I voted. I voted right. I can’t control anything else. All I can do tomorrow morning is get up and be the most belligerent, loud, aggressively anti-Trump rhetoric person possible. All I can do is speak up.

I really hope that’s enough.

For everyone planning to kill themselves in the event of a Trump victory:

Don’t.

We need you. The world needs you. We’ve been through this before, in one way or another, and we have prevailed. Who benefits from your death? Only those who want you silenced.

There will be blue skies ahead. There will be triumphs. This is not the end of the world.

Do not go gentle – we are here today because of the stubborn refusal of our predecessors to go away. There are oases even in the darkest of times. You are not alone, and you have not been abandoned. There *will* be blue skies ahead, and you will live to see them.
